Many of our Chapter members, work colleagues and friends know someone affected by Hurricane Harvey.  The TSCPA has a wealth of information under the Hurricane Harvey Assistance Page.  This segment of the website is continually updated with items such as IRS notices about deadline extensions for affected individuals, recovery resources and much more.

Chapter Members in the News!

On page 35, Travis Skinner was recognized as one of the TSCPA's Rising Stars at their Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Travis is a Director at BKD, LLP in Waco.  He oversees health care financial management, specializing in health care records and reimbursement.  He was instrumental in creating the electronic medical records (EMI) department of his firm, which now assists hospitals and physicians across more than 25 states.  He currently serves as secretary for the Central Texas Chapter and volunteers with Friends for Life which packages Thanksgiving meals for senior citizens.  The photos were taken at the Annual Meeting and includes a picture of Travis with his wife Lindsey.  Congratulations Travis!

Beginning on page 68, the Wacoan interviews Angela Ragan, a senior tax manager at  Jaynes, Reitmeier, Boyd & Therrell, PC about the importance of education, her college experience and subsequent career path.  Angela and her husband Reggie are involved as worship leaders at Victorious Life Church  as well as parents to three children.  Angela has been on the board of Compassion Ministries and the Central Texas Chapter.  She is currently serving this year on the TSCPA's Executive Board.  She is also a mentor to two Waco High School students through the Greater Waco Chamber's Leadership, Education and Development Program. Thanks Angela for inspiring us!

August 2017 CPAs Volunteered at Mission Waco
with the Backpack Project

A special thank you to the CPAs and businesses who donated backpacks, school supplies and socks to the Mission Waco Store.  Below are some of our volunteers who worked in the store.  We wish you could have seen the joy and excitement of the parents, children and teens as they selected their backpacks!

Lindsey and Travis Skinner and Scott Wiseman of the Young CPAs Committee organized this volunteer opportunity.  We are planning another service project before the end of 2017 and will have more information next month.

In Memory of Gloria Jean Fikes
