 “A Big Texas Thanks”…
… to the PAC contributors from the Individual Tax Update.  For those individuals that missed our presentation on the PAC, I would like to take an opportunity to introduce myself and ask you to respectfully consider contributing to our PAC.

First, why contribute. The Texas Sunset Advisory Commission reviews state agencies to ensure that the agencies stay useful and do not outlive that usefulness.  They also must operate in an efficient and effective manner or they could be abolished or combined with another agency.   If new legislation is not passed every 12 years, the agency can cease to exist. (www.sunset.texas.gov )

In the 2019 Legislative Session, the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission will review the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.  I can’t say enough times or to enough people this is so important for chapter members that are licensed Certified Public Accountants.  What would happen if we were found to not be useful?  In my opinion, the recent trend is leaning to a reduction in licensing.

During the last Legislative Session, the agencies up for Sunset Review had to be approved during a special session. https://www.texastribune.org/2017/06/06/heres-everything-you-need-know-about-must-pass-sunset-bills/

Don’t let us be in this situation during the next session!  Contribute today to support our legislative efforts related to the State Board of Public Accountancy review.  If you have a relationship with senators or representatives in our chapter area, please let Rebekah North know.  We want to have key persons within our Chapter assigned to each of them.  The key person program is designed to connect senators and representatives (as well as their office staff) with CPAs in their respective areas that can serve as resources when bills are introduced, provide insight on proposed tax changes and this year, work towards passing legislation to renew the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. For several years, Andy Montgomery in Temple has chaired the Chapter’s PAC Committee and has coordinated the key person efforts in Bell County.

My name is P.J. “Trish” Fritsche, CPA, CFF, CITP, CGMA and as your new PAC Co-Chair of the Central Texas TSCPA Chapter, I am asking you to make a contribution today.  The PAC is currently working to ensure the members of the Sunset Commission have input on the issues affecting CPAs and the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy review.
