Support the Annual Scholarship Fundraiser
& Raffle on February 13, 2018

As a chapter, we are looking forward to our annual dinner meeting with the Baylor Beta Alpha Psi Students and the accounting students from Tarleton State University in Waco and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  Since 2013, we have awarded $28,000 in scholarships to these accounting students.  Several of the students were able to attend summer school classes, pay for fees, tuition and other expenses or purchase textbooks with their scholarships.  All of our students were very appreciative and thankful for the support.

This year, we are going to award two $1,000 scholarships to two deserving students from each university.  The accounting faculty from each school selects the scholarship recipients.  Jim Oliver, TSCPA Chairman and a CPA from San Antonio will be our speaker.  The meeting will be from 6-8 pm in the Paul and Jane Meyer Conference Center (2nd floor) of the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation at Baylor University.
You and your business can donate towards the scholarships.  Use the donate button below and no fees are charged for the donation.  All proceeds raised from donations go directly to the students.  We also have raffle tickets for sale - 1 ticket for $5 and 3 tickets for $10.  The raffle prizes will be two IPads and the winners will be announced at the dinner.  We would like to thank BKD, LLP for sponsoring the raffle tickets.  Our board members are selling raffle tickets or we can deliver tickets to your business by contacting us at centraltxed@yahoo.com or 254-732-3026.  Donations by cash and check are also accepted.

CPE Updates

  • Thank you to our members and colleagues who attended the tax update courses in January.  As our speaker Blaise Bender indicated, we will see what tax changes and opportunities develop over the next few months.  There is a possibility of a mid-year tax update course this summer.  We are also compiling a list of possible CPE suggestions from the CPE evaluations.
  • We are working on setting a date for the Chapter's Annual CPE Expo.  If you would like to suggest a speaker and/or topic, use the button below.  The chapter CPE committee typically plans 8 hours CPE with several speakers and topics.
  • We are always taking suggestions for CPE programs throughout the year.  Submit your suggestion, month preferred for this topic and any possibly speakers by using the button below too.
